‘TRAITOR SCENE IN ROME CHURCH’

Glasgow pastor is hustled away

ROME, Wednesday.
A GLASGOW Baptist clergyman, Pastor Jack Glass of Shettleston, was one of three Protestants who demonstrated here today against the Archbishop of Canterbury’s visit to the Pope.

The incident took place as the Archbishop, Dr Michael Ramsey, celebrated Holy Communion in All Souls Anglican Church. During the service, the three sitting together in a pew took off their overcoats, revealing white cloth waistcoats bearing the words, “Archbishop Ramsey a traitor to Protestant Britain.” On the back of each waistcoat was “Courtesy Visit a Curse.”

Pastor Glass’s church is the Sovereign Grace Evangelical Baptist Church in Shettleston. His home is in Hillhead. Mr Glass and the other two were escorted into the street by church officials, and led away by police for questioning.

EXPELLED FROM CHURCH

Italian police and members of Archbishop Michael Ramsey’s entourage bundled three non-Anglican Protestants from Holy Communion services at the All Saints English Church yesterday when they appeared with aprons labelling Ramsey as “a traitor to Protestant Britain”.
