Every
so often Scottish society throws up a firebrand.
In the course of history we may well have had more
of them than any other country of comparable size.
The latest, in the name of religion and the people,
last week caused the police to be summoned to a
cathedral. More is bound to be heard of
him before his fire goes out.

Scotland's
Firebrand: an insight
It
was a privilege to know Pastor Jack Glass. His
preaching style was a unique blend of fire and
brimstone straight talking, and meticulous theological
study which amazed and inspired. In the pulpit,
or wherever he was led to do God’s work, he seemed
to be fearless: he never allowed any individual
to intimidate him into silence; moreover, he
often openly rebuked the powers of darkness.
He also delighted in expounding the more difficult
passages of scripture from which many of his
peers would shrink. Out of the pulpit, he revealed
a quiet, gentle nature. He practised what he
preached, and was most definitely a pastor in
the true sense of the word to his flock in Zion
Baptist Church. Above all, Jack Glass was a man
whose supreme passion in life was God, and he
served God with every fibre of his being.
